Avid Learning Collective Recognizes Six Educational Organizations For Promoting Diversity, Equity And Inclusion Through Media Creation

New curriculum offers video and audio creation technologies and training in high-performance learning initiatives; 2022 call for applications open until February 15

BURLINGTON, Mass., December 21, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Avid® (Nasdaq: AVID) and the customer-led Avid Community Association (ACA) today launched the Avid Learning Collective program to provide professional media creation technologies, training and certification to educational organizations in nonprofits that have proven to inspire, engage and activate creators from underrepresented communities. Avid and the ACA also presented the first six winners, identified for their outstanding missions and achievements: Boston Arts Academy, Ghetto Film School, Girls Make Beats, Immersive & Inclusive Audio Institute, MAMA Youth Project and The Last Mile.

Each year, the Avid Learning Collective will host six additional educational organizations and initiatives that demonstrate the intention and ability to influence the current state of diversity, equity and inclusion through student advancement. . For a period of three years, these recipients will benefit from a membership in the global Avid Learning Partner program, which offers licenses for Avid creative tools, teacher training and course materials for students, as well as networking between peer and professional to cultivate visibility, mentorship and employment opportunities. for students.

The call for nominations for the 2022 Avid Learning Collective Program Awards is now open until February 15, 2022. The criteria and application form are available here.   • Boston Arts Academy, Boston’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts, offers avenues to success for urban students who otherwise might not have access to both formal arts training and education. preparatory education for university.   • The Ghetto Film School trains young people from New York, Los Angeles and London in the basics of visual storytelling, offering an introduction to high school students and early career support for alumni and young professionals. Since its founding in 2000, the school has trained 11,000 artists and placed 800 in jobs and internships; 98 percent of participants graduate from high school on time and 92 percent go to college, with 76 percent pursuing creative professions.

  • The girls make rhythms, founded by certified sound engineer Tiffany “Delilah” Miranda, empowers girls by expanding the presence of music producers, DJs and sound engineers.   • MAMA Youth Project is a registered charity specializing in broadcast and digital media training, set up to provide opportunities for young people from under-represented groups in society, including ethnic minorities and white working classes. MAMA Youth offers hands-on training where applicants produce professional content as well as ongoing support for its alumni to secure long-term fulfilling employment.   • The Last Mile (TLM) provides opportunities for personal and professional growth through education and technology training for those involved in justice. TLM’s web development program is active in 16 prisons across the United States and with his appointment TLM is launching an audio and video production program with industry partnerships and a top notch program.
