New wine bar and audiophile listening, eavesdropping, opening in Brooklyn
A new listening bar has opened in Brooklyn. Entitled Eavesdrop (Listening Bar LLC is the official Company Name), the bar is located in Greenpoint and will serve small bites to nibble or share and a mix of drinks which include beer, cocktails and natural wine.
What makes the place interesting is the sound system and the desire to make the place not only look good, but sound good.
Eavesdrop’s audio system includes Danley Sound Lab SH60 speakers and Seaton Submersive subs, designed by Danny Taylor, owner of New York audio consultancy House Under Magic. There’s a DJ booth with Technics turntables, Pioneer CDJs and a MasterSounds Radius rotary mixer by sound engineer Andy Rigby-Jones of Allen & Heath. It’s designed so people can talk while still hearing high-quality sound.
“We incorporated the same design principles as building a recording studio, such as absorption and processing of hidden sound,” Taylor told Resident Advisor.
There will be local DJs, labels, record stores and curators playing electronic, jazz, hip-hop, soul and experimental music.
Opening weekend will take place on March 4 and 5 with CZ Wang and Renata Do Valle of Mood Hut behind the decks.
The 1,000 foot space is at 674 Manhattan Avenue.
